The Korean Electro-Acoustic Music Association (KEAMS) was founded on September 1, 1993, by musicians teaching at universities, sound engineers, graphic artists, and other specialists with the aim of promoting and vitalizing the genres of music and multimedia art using new media, as well as fostering international exchange. Since 1994, it has organized the Seoul International Computer Music Festival (SICMF) annually, introducing diverse electro-acoustic music works from both domestic and international artists, and consistently engaging in active exchange with foreign organizations and artists. In addition, KEAMS holds Fest-M (formerly the Korean Computer Music Competition) every year to discover and nurture new musicians. Through electro-acoustic music camps, seminars, and workshops, it shares new technical and academic information and exchanges opinions with various people. Furthermore, by hosting the international conference KEAMSAC and publishing the KCI-listed professional academic journal Emille, the association promotes more specialized research on computer music and shares its findings.
